Mother of Pearl

A bioyarn luxury-packaging capsule, premiering at Luxe Pack Paris. Two objects: a Perfume Garment that settles a hand-knitted bioyarn layer over a glass fragrance bottle, finished with a mother-of-pearl medallion — and an entirely hand-knitted Ritual Pouch. Mineral cobalt marks make every piece unique; the pigment never repeats.

Made from brown seaweed, biodegradable and water-soluble — a material that leaves a trace, then returns to the sea. My part is the material itself: the seaweed bioyarn, and the hand-knitting method that gives it form.

Mycelium × Textile

"A living material dialogue between the organic intelligence of mycelium and the textural memory of textiles."

I grow mycelium — the root network of fungi — through the gaps of a knitted textile mesh, where it binds to the fibres as it colonises. The result is a hybrid: part living, part woven. I work on it at Biolab Lisboa under the supervision of Magda Barreira Novo, within its biosafety protocols — the most experimental thread of my practice, pointing toward a third category beyond packaging and accessories: living textile composites.

Calculated Chaos

My Master's thesis — where I first named and defined the bioyarn research, and the direct precursor to Mother of Pearl. "Calculated Chaos" holds the tension I keep working in: scientific protocol applied to a material that behaves unpredictably, producing results I can't exactly repeat.

It's where the spirulina pigment variant — blue-green microalgae, the green bioyarn — first appeared, and where I settled on the syringe-extrusion method I still use.

Living Color

Red Cabbage Alginate Biofilm — a study in colour grown, not dyed. Anthocyanin pigment extracted from red cabbage is suspended in alginate film, where pH and mineral salts shift it across a spectrum of magentas, crimsons and violets. The pigment migrates and blooms inside the film as it cures, leaving abstract, painterly fields no two of which are alike.

QUANTUM WORLD SS25

My Master's graduation collection, shown at Fashion Graduate Italia 2024 — a credentialed professional runway. Five looks in red and pink, menswear-forward, with bioyarn as the defining material detail.

Bioyarn appeared in three forms: a purple lacy crocheted mini-bag carried on the runway, a chest appliqué, and a beaded necklace. It's where I proved bioyarn could be a luxury-accessories material — not packaging, not textile, but jewellery-adjacent craft.

FERRO

"A dialogue between timeless strength and future innovation — the raw permanence of iron meets the fluid sustainability of bioplastics."

In FERRO I'm asking whether ferrofluid — iron particles that react to magnetic fields with dynamic, spiky motion — can be integrated into bio-based materials to create controlled, sculptural effects frozen at maximum magnetic tension. Process: laser-cut modular components, 3D-printed moulds, leather applications. Still in development at Fabricademy; imagery to follow.
